From the street to the University: Where is the education of Capoeira in the
University?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

within the IX Jogos Europeus de Capoeira 2007, ABADÁ invites teachers, who give
lessons in Capoeira in the university and students, who learn Capoeira also in the
university to participate at the 1st International Meeting on Capoeira Education in the
University.

The general aim of this meeting is, to learn to understand the situation of these
instructions with the intention to reinforce it by setting perspectives for improvements
and developments.

The specific aim of this first meeting is to set fundamentals by inauguration of
reflections to establish an annual cycle of new meetings.
It will take place so that the experience of teachers and students are put in opposition
in form of individual statements. In this sense, it aims to deepen the dialogue of the
actors with the intention to state the urgency of this education, its history, its
conditions and its status and the its potential for renewal and development as well as
its situation in comparison with other sport disciplines or at the university. So that
meeting aims to reflect about the current condition and its future perspectives. The
discussions and debates will give opportunity to talk about different items and
problems which are combined with the lessons, which are in reality multiple.

As accompaniment and parallel to the meeting an exhibition with photos and
materials in connection with the lessons will be organized.
